“Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest!” Mark 11:9-10
It’s Palm Sunday and I️ want to encourage everyone to be in God’s Word today. I️ believe that the Word is alive and actively working. I️ also believe that there is great power in prayer. You will see that this blog is a little different than usual..nothing like shaking things up when we all feel a little shaken up.
As you read today’s text, I️ wanted to highlight a few words, the first of which is “Hosanna“. In the original Hebrew, it means “Oh, save!” and is a sign of adoration. The second is the word, “Lord“, which means “Master, supreme authority.” And finally, the word “highest” draws our attention upward, beyond our current circumstances. It means “Highest, most high, the heights of heaven.”
Personal Application
This brief passage is to take our eyes off of the things of this world and point us upward to Jesus. He is our Savior and Lord! Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas in your life where He is not the Master and supreme authority in our lives. It probably is the areas where you are trying to control, hyper-manage, or cannot shut-off in your brain. Is there something that is keeping you awake at night? Causing you great distress? If so, turn that person, situation, circumstance, fear, covid-19 over to Jesus.
Remember, Jesus is the Highest, above the heights, reigning supreme in heaven. He is our Hosanna, Savior of the world.
Praying for you today…and that God will speak to you personally as you spend time in His Word. May you rejoice in worship, exclaiming, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.”
