Lent is a 40-day season of reflection and preparation for the celebration of Easter. That being said, this particular season has been unusual and unsettling. We’ve never experienced anything like it in our lifetime. Stores closing. Sports canceled. Schools shutting down. In such a time of uncertainty, I️ thought it might be good to remind ourselves of who God is. By taking our eyes off of our circumstances and placing them on God, we can be confident in such a time as this.
Read the following truths slowly. Take time to meditate on the richness found in these verses. God is Who He Says He Is! There is such power in His Word! If you have the time (and you probably do since everything is closed and tv is full of reruns), go outside and spend some time with God today. Allow Him to speak to you afresh and anew as you remind yourself of these truths.
10 Truths About God:
God is the Same Yesterday, Today and Forever.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).” “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” (Numbers 23:19). “Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock” (Is. 26:4).
God is our Provider.
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:19).
God is Enough.
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (2 Cor. 12:9).
God is Faithful.
“God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord” 1 Cor. 1:9. “But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one” (2 Thess. 3:3). “if we are faithless, He remains faithful—” (2 Tim. 2:13).
God is Good.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change” (James 1:17). “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!” (Ps. 34:8).
God is Love.
“So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him” (I️ Jn 4:16). “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God” (1 Jn 4:7).
God is Our Rescuer.
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:8). “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you” (Romans 16:20).
God is Our Stronghold.
“The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; he is their stronghold in the time of trouble” (Ps. 37:39). “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold (Ps. 18:2).
God Cares.
“Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). “But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?” (Matt. 6:30).
God is Powerful.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope” (Romans 15:13). “Now to him who can do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Eph. 3:20-21).
There is nothing I️ can say that is more powerful, meaningful, impactful than the life-changing Word of God. Remind yourself of God’s truth and allow it to do a work in you today.
Prayer: Oh God, how we love your Word! It is more precious than silver and richer than gold. May we continue to seek you and pray for our nation to turn to You. Remind us of your promises. Use us, Lord, in such a time as this. Amen.
P.S. If there is anyone who is struggling with all of the COVID-19 news, will you please share this post with them.
