The Holy Spirit can renew your mind. It is first and foremost a work that can only be achieved by Him. We are dependent on Him to do a profound work within us from the inside out. It is He who nudges and prods us to seek Him more than anything else in this world.
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
The Holy Spirit Can Renew Your Mind
Through the work of the Holy Spirit, we can behold the glory of the Lord. It is God’s glory that leads to our transformation! By beholding the glory of the Lord, we renew our ignorant minds. We do so by reading God’s Word, meditating on Scripture, participating in Bible study, and redirecting our thoughts to God’s truth. In obedience, we pursue Christ-exalting truth and pray for the Holy Spirit to break through our hard heart and corrupted mind. It is a work that only He can do!
The Holy Spirit works from the outside in, exposing us to the truth of God’s Word. And then He works from the inside out, breaking down falsehoods and convicting us of our sin. By the transforming work of the Holy Spirit, our hearts move towards humility and the hardness erodes.
The Mind & The Heart Work in Tandem
If the Holy Spirit only presented the truth to our mind, we would become boastful and proud (like the Pharisees and Sadducees). We would know God only from an educational standpoint. On the contrary, if our hearts are humble and we do not know the truth with our minds, we will be downtrodden. We will not know the reason for the Hope we live for.
But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.” 1 Peter 3:15 (emphasis added)
Pursue truth.
Pray for humility.
Be full of the Holy Spirit.
Know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:19
I want to be filled with the fullness of God, don’t you?
How is God renewing your mind and humbling your heart? What areas do you still need help with?
Yes I DO want to be full of the Holy Spirit. I want Him to renew my mind constantly.
Me too Amy! Me too!
