Just like that…Christmas is done. The gifts unwrapped and the aftermath exploding. The trash is absolutely unyielding. You could get lost in the myriad of Amazon boxes piled in my garage.

We are praying and hoping the Christmas tree will last until we can ring in the New Year. But the pessimistic within me is doubtful…it looks a tad dry.

There is a bit of anxiety settling in as I grow leery to open the American Express bill.

And the pages of the calendar year are nearing the end. Another chapter of life is closing.

As we reminisce about the year gone past and are hopeful of the one quickly approaching, may we remember with each day dawning…

our HOPE has already come

“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.Revelation 22:16

A Prayer for You from Psalm 40

May we be mindful that the celebration of Jesus is not something we should do only one day a year. We can live each and every day with thanksgiving. Yes, we really can. For He alone gives hope to the hopeless and puts our feet on solid ground. He rescues us from the slimy pit and places songs of praise on our lips. No one compares with Our Heavenly Father…no one even comes near. Many are the wonders the Lord has performed. Let’s remind ourselves once again of His mighty hand.

May we desire to do God’s will in 2016. May we purpose to follow His ways. May we boldly proclaim of His saving grace and His unchanging faithfulness. Through you, may others see how precious and good our Savior truly is. Even when troubles beset us, may we stand firm in the foundation of truth.

But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who long for your saving help always say, “The Lord is great!” Psalm 40:16

Wishing you a Happy New Year (a few days early)!

How has the Lord set your feet on solid ground? If you are struggling today, what does the Lord promise to do (hint: See Psalm 40:17)?
