I feel like my life is being sucked up by a whirlwind. Funny thing, everyone else I talk to feels the same way. I don’t know what quite possessed me at the time, but at the beginning of the school year apparently I signed up to help with my son’s 5th grade graduation party, as well as to be the parent in charge of the preschool end-of-year party for my toddler. Add to that, I have a senior who is graduating and it brings a tight packed suitcase all on its own. We have graduation parties, end of year parties, athletic banquets, baseball play-offs, and church events all excitedly jumping on our schedule at the EXACT SAME TIME!
I could pull my hair out.
Thankfully, a friend reminded me of God’s Word yesterday…that despite our CRAY-CRAY schedules, God is always there.
Stopping for just a minute to refocus my thoughts on Him…rather than all the busyness around me…helps quiet my mind. I can take one step at a time, resting fully in God’s delightful presence. He has the future in His hands. He holds tomorrow.
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10
I wonder how many of us get caught up in all the things that must be done right now. If we take a step back, do the things we deem so important make an eternal difference? Do we value our “to do” list more so than spending time with God?
It’s easy to get derailed, focusing our attention on everything that needs to completed today. However, God designed you to sing HIm praise. He has created you for relationship. And despite the deadlines, the crying babies, the grocery list, the piles of laundry, the unfinished homework, the parties to attend–we must squeeze in time with God.
Fight for time with Him. He is all that really matters.
Just curious, why do you think we live our lives so busy?
